The usual security updates for Microsoft products this month include updates for Word and Excel from Office 2000 to Office 2007 plus Office for Mac.

Security holes in Word’s text converter and Excel headline this month’s patches plus some for our friends with Office for Mac.

As usual here’s a list of updates according to the type of Office you have installed. Click on the links to get the patches from Microsoft or use Windows/Microsoft Update to get the patches. We’ve added the Microsoft KB article numbers too though the articles rarely shed any more light.

Office 2000

Service Pack 3 must be installed to use these patches.

  • Word 2000 (KB921606) This updates also applies to Microsoft Works Suite 2000 or 2001 because those products include Word 2000.
  • Excel 2000 (KB959964)

Office XP

Service Pack 3 must be installed to use these patches.

  • Word 2002 (KB933399) This updates also applies to Microsoft Works Suite 2002, 2003 or 2004 because those products include Word 2002.
  • Excel 2002 (KB959988)

Office 2003

Service Pack 3 must be installed to use these patches. See our notes on Traps in Office 2003 SP3.

  • Microsoft Office Converter Pack (KB960476) Strictly speaking this is a patch for the Office 2003 file Converter Pack rather than Office 2003 itself. It applies to Office 2003, OneNote 2003 and Project 2003 – either Service Pack 2 or 3 for those products needs to be in place first.
  • Excel 2003 (KB959995)

Office 2007

Service Pack 1 must be installed to use these patches.

These free Office viewers also need patching.
